GO GREENBRIER

The mayor's office welcomes suggestions for city enhancements, as well as calls regarding city concerns, and invites residents to attend the city council meetings held each month.

The city council meets the first Monday of the month at 6:30 at City Hall.

A MOMENT WITH THE MAYOR

2021 was a bittersweet year: Early on we lost our city engineer to COVID and within a month, I lost a great friend to an ATV accident, who was also the city’s water superintendent. This was the bitter in bittersweet. COVID had a huge impact on our city. As always, our citizens and businesses stepped up to help each other through these most difficult times which was amazing to witness. Through it all, the city prospered with new businesses coming to town. With our dedicated employees at the helm, our city was able to provide services that the residents have come to expect.

I have spent my entire life here and made many wonderful memories. I look forward to making many more with my wife, Cheryl, son Rusty and daughter in law, Beth. Our roots run deep here, as they do for many families, but we also have many young families and retirees making the move to Greenbrier because they know it is a great place to LIVE. We welcome you with open arms with the message, “You Belong Here!”

One thing that we can’t deny is the fact that a major reason we have explosive growth within our community is that our schools consistently rank among the top 10% in the country. We were the first school in the state to offer associates degrees to graduating seniors, and our grade level reading scores are by far the best in Faulkner County. That is just the tip of the iceberg that grounds our community as one of the best places to LEARN. Our new fire station and Matthews Park are both shining examples of our priorities to keep our community safe and improve the quality of life for our citizens. These projects go hand in hand with our growth and progress.

Fast forward to the SWEET in bittersweet, Matthews Park became the hub of many special events throughout the year, with the huge debut of GLISTEN IN GREENBRIER, Piccolo Zoppe Family Circus, and the FAB&T Ice Skating Rink. Along with our chamber, businesses, and volunteers stepping up, this event brought an abundance of joy to all ages.

My goal as mayor is to keep Greenbrier among the best places to LIVE, LEARN, WORK, and PLAY. Our citizens and community spirit are a big part of that. I am glad you are here! Thank you for making Greenbrier a great place to call home. I am so proud to serve this great community. Be sure to follow the City of Greenbrier on Facebook to keep up with all the great things going on in Greenbrier.
